This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Love that for him.

BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps.

This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 — literal warehousing of people.

I’m paywalled. But yes, that’s true, which is why they’re mostly useless. My point was that folks with experience can tell the difference and that “using big words” is an exceptionally poor indicator of AI use among more advanced writers.

I adored the books and films. After she unveiled herself as a bigot, though, I started to read more criticism of the text itself. I no longer find the books magical. The blatant antisemitism and racial stereotypes are impossible to unsee. I was just a more naive reader then.
