What amazes me is how the American electorate keep voting for Republican even though they offer no actual policies - just vague promises and scapegoating is all they offer yet Americans keep voting for nonexistent policies in favour of vague promises and empty rhetoric.

The Republican Party have had over a decade to come up with a plan, they keep promising a replacement, then if you ask them what their plan is you'll find a dozen random backbenchers throw out some random ideas but no actual coherent policy that the whole party can get behind. 🧵

Once you've setup a massive infrastructure to support your influencer operation the option of shutting down and restarting as if what just happened didn't happen just isn't viable people people are unlikely to keep following once you rebrand away from Trump and MAGA to being an enlightened centrist.

But here is the problem with that 'damage control', the internet never forgets..the obnoxious behaviour by GWB supporters might have been before the rise of influencer culture which allowed people to delete their old accounts and then open up a new one then claim that the old account was 'hacked'. 🧵

My theory is that they punch down because it makes them feel better by believing they're superior to 'those people' (aka "I'm a hard worker not exploited proletariat") where as if they punched upwards then it would be a tacit admission that they're in the same boat as those on food stamps.
