I wrote to my MC’s. I got no response from Sens Lankford or Mullins. From Rep Hern’s office, I got a response about the SAVE Act, which is entirely unrelated.

People lives and financial livelihoods are being threatened for a propaganda war about dismantling ED. It’s insane and cruel.

Running full steam ahead at this deadline while ignoring the fact that IDR applications aren’t being processed will literally be the government financially ruining people.

Not enough people are talking about this.

The student loan problems are real. I understand the desire to move people from default to payments, but it cannot happen on this timeline and they are spinning things in a PR war that isn’t based in reality.

Make federal student loan processors process the IDR applications in a timely manner.

I should be eligible for forgives in sept of this year under PSLF. But now…who knows what’s going to happen.

Some will say why not make the full payment plan payments…well because my loans are consolidated, standard payments do not count as eligible payments. I *have* to be in a payment plan.

Not to mention the hundreds of people like me who have been stuck in a non-payment forbearance that does not count toward forgiveness programs like PSLF. I *want* to make payments. I’ve been trying since July to get them to let me make qualifying payments. But I’m stuck in bureaucratic trap.

Now they are supposed to be moving to process them again but there are thousands of backlogged applications because anyone who was on SAVE is and has been stuck in a forbearance since 7/24. I understand the restarted 5/5 payments only apply to people in default but they will be caught up in this.

What she, apparently, does not mention is the applications and annual income recertifications for these payment plans are largely unavailable due to on-going litigation against the SAVE plan. Submitted forms haven’t been processed for months. I have two languishing from 1/5 & 2/28 with no movement.
