I hope I'm just missing something, but one thing I'm not hearing in talk about this new approach to science funding is that improving understanding of climate and environmental change is essential to effective planning of adaptation.

It would be folly to try to grow the economy without gaining the knowledge to build resilience to the changes that are coming.

Least amount of ice at the thwaites pinning point in history... And look at this growing finger of open water as the glacier slides against the land fast ice

Also worth noting the nearly 400 sq miles of ice tongue hanging off the end of the Pine Island Glacier.

Instead of last year's triangle, we now have a wedge.

The Doomsday Clock now stands at 85 seconds to midnight—the closest it has ever been. When the New START treaty expires next week, there will be nothing stopping a new nuclear arms race. Trump and Putin could agree today to stick with New START limits. We can turn back the clock.
