This is where I'm supposed to fit in a box right? Boxes of choice: beetles, twin-dadding, Christian, evolutionary biology, disc golf, minecraft, climate change? Tweets personal views and not representative of my institution.

Trogossitidae is dead. Long live Trogossitidae. And Lophocateridae. And Peltidae. And Protopeltidae. And Rentoniidae. And Thymalidae.

Just don’t get me started on how Melyridae has been split up too.

For all the anti-solar hubbub, there’s the simple fact that’s it’s cheap, can be built distributed, and has way less problems than dirty energy. It’s going to replace so much energy infrastructure on those merits alone, which is great.

WILL YOU
-count nearly invisible tarsomeres on a 2mm beetle? Turn to... COLEOPTERA
-count individual bristles on a made-up sounding body segment? Turn to... DIPTERA
-not be able to ID anything that's not spread? Turn to... LEPIDOPTERA

I didn’t even have tons of engagement or track it with stats but it was like a bomb went off in my engagement, absolutely destroying it overnight. Nothing I said or tweeted got any response, even from followers, probably because they weren’t seeing it anymore.

Since periodical cicadas are trending again, I've copied a thread I originally posted to Twitter in 2021 that answers the question "How loud would a periodical cicada be if it were the size of an F-35?"

To be clear, that’s a systemwide strike (23 campuses) in the largest public university system in the county.

Looks like Dr. Johanne Brunet, of the Brunet bee lab, is finally out from the USDA.

This comes years after she left UW Madison in 2019 after they initiated a dismissal for cause.
