huge not hige. sigh.
Isn't the main conflict that PTA grants overwhelmingly are benefiting their specific school which raises hige equity concerns since not all PTAs can raise as much? That's why SESSFA exists.
That is, some grants are for broader purposes and thus raise less concern than PTA grants.
I feel this strongly: I don't care. I am DISGUSTED that 175 little girls are dead and that thousands are dead across the region and that 1 million people are displaced in Lebanon alone. THIS IS EVIL.
The Israelis bombed cars in a heavily populated part of Beirut: Ramlet El Bayda. At least 6 people were killed.
They then bombed Aramoun in Aley, Mt Lebanon.
Neither Ramlet El Bayda nor Aramoun are Israel’s ‘usual’ target areas.
Again: Israel’s goal is to destroy Lebanon itself
Thank you for live posting us thru it! And staying up all night.
51 to 46. We did it. #waleg
Ah drop people off downtown at like 1am to wait half an hour for a bus to get you to rainier valley?!
I am impressed by Rep. Reed.
While the world is on fire, national republicans supporting fascism and war, our state republicans apparently spent all night blocking a modest tax change that will likely only change WA from 2nd most regressive to maybe 10th. Including talking about necrophilia which somehow relates to tax policy?!
None of the Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity, genocide included, would be possible without US support. The ongoing horrors are the fault of both Republicans and Democrats, and if Democrats want to be any different they can start by acknowledging Biden’s role in the Gaza genocide.
I'll note there is room for multiple strategies! Some groups can withdraw support if a bill compromises their values and goals too far and other groups can stay with support in hopes of improving later. This happens all the time and it's fine. Hopefully groups have connections to talk quietly!
I am going to be so lucky tonight. I am going to hug my kids. I am going to kiss my spouse. I am going to wash my hands with warm running water.
We have destroyed so much for so many people in so short a time.
Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
well crab is usually surimi in my experience but called crab. but phew. I was worried there was some horror where "crab rangoon" was like mayo plus crab (I don't hate mayo like some shudder).
now walking away having horrified kendra by mentioning mayo.
cream cheese is what I'm used to in a crab rangoon. is there a different kind?!
One of the best "crab" rangoon I ever had was actually one that a all veg/vegan place in St. Louis (of all places) made. You could have "real" cream cheese or vegan. I had vegan. Somehow one of the best crab rangoons I'd ever had.
Crab rangoon is easy for places to make and offer and is pretty common at Thai places in my experience, even the places I think are good. I suspect they can buy it frozen & just have to fry? A fav for me so I don't have your dislike though often it's still very mediocre.
Pleasantly surprised that basically everyone is (a) helpful but still (b) dude, you're just wrong.
Re last boost. I "knew" or at least assumed that my government and the government of Israel were probably also bombing hospitals. But I hadn't actually seen news stories yet about it. :(
And even when they aren't "wrong", by using them instead of opening a few links you're losing out on alternate perspectives, more details that might be important to you, or just finding something delightful that won't appear in the summary!
The Senate wants to ban new passenger ferries built outside the state while the state is purchasing three new state ferries from Florida.
The Senate wants to require all new passenger ferries to be zero emission when the alternative is driving your car onto a ferry.
These are wild demands.
Cross post of my feelings this morning working in tech, being pressured to use tools like Anthropic's Claude Code and our war in Iran. freeradical.zone/@r343l/11618...
If they are hitting water infrastructure in Iran, that’s a crime against humanity on an enormous scale. I planned to publish something on Iran’s water crisis this week but it obviously got bumped. Iran was already in a critical state pre war, destroying water infrastructure will kill innocent people
This does not change the fact that the Iranian regime, since 1979, has committed heinous crimes against its own population, as I discuss in this article. What is often forgotten is that the previous regime, under the Shah, tortured and disappeared both leftist and Islamist activists and students.
I have been corrected that this (surprisingly to me) public defenders. I blame ambiguous terminology and tiredness. I kind of gave up reading the full text in favor of some exercise.
Posting through it in the good way not in the character of the day way. :)
Submit that if we didn't spend money on cars we could spend it on transit and other non-private-vehicle modes and so in 25 years the people still using cars would get places faster because lots of folks would not be driving nearly so often.
Also apparently you can deduct the costs to construct, repair or acquire a fishing vessel?? Like, if you need a fishing vessel then it's a business expense. If this is personal income tax, why should spending on a boat get a deduction but not a bike or car or braille display or any number of things?
So, if I am reading this bill right, if you make $1 million in a year and have gambling losses, you can deduct your gambling losses. OTOH I can see why that would make sense if this was an income tax proposal that applies to all income levels. OTOH wtf.
