I'm not sure it helps anyone to send a women to prison where the child dies an hour after either - it's a tragedy all round. I mean, is it meant as a deterrent?

And if 25% don't want kids at all; the rest need to have an average of 3 to reach replacement rate. The only vaguely young people I know with more than 2 kids had twins as the 2 pregnancy

The difficulty is that all the people I know who want kids think 2 is fine. What's the benefit of the 3rd or 4th, even as a fan of big families? Is it worth having a family too big for a normal car, buying bunkbeds, etc? The answer appears to be no
