Illustration of a stylized brain with branching astrocyte-like connections in blue and purple. Below it is the blog title “The Hidden Stars” in bold, with the subtitle “Rethinking the Brain Beyond Neurons” in italics.
After years of wondering, I finally vibe-coded my blog!
🧠Neuroscience has long told a neuron-centered story, but maybe that’s only half the picture. #Astrocytes, the so-called housekeepers, may hold some hidden insights.
My first intro post is live!

Maybe top-down signals, as current context, provide positive feedback instead of prediction errors, just up-modulating the bottom-up pathways associated with the current context in past experiences. The pathways out of this +modulation receive negative feedback, but not enough to entirely block them

do u know of someone who may be interested in starting a lab as a junior PI in Korea, to work on perceptual decision-making in mice? besides postdocs, we would consider someone fresh out of grad school too, or someone who wants to be a staff scientist for the longer term. 1/

First post on here! Sharing a paper that I wrote with some friends on our thoughts on the role of astrocytes in the brain. We put forward the idea that astrocytes provide context to neurons and that this is one of their primary functions in the brain! Let us know what you think!

Hippocampal neurons code individual episodic memories in humans - Nature Human Behaviour
Kolibius et al. show that individual neurons in the human hippocampus code for particular episodic memories.
Hippocampal neurons code individual episodic memories in humans.
The neurons don't code for a particular element in the episode (e.g., concept or time). They code for the conjunction of the different elements.

A Biophysical Model of Visual Rivalry Links Cellular Mechanisms to Signatures of Conscious Perceptio...
bioRxiv - the preprint server for biology, operated by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a research and educational institution
In lieu of an introductory post, I want to re-share our latest preprint which leverages a novel thalamocortical spiking neural network to bridge the gap between the cellular mechanisms of perception studied in rodents and the behavioural signatures of conscious perception studied in cog neuro.
