I would love to have heard Kate's reaction, if Phoebe had done that! Come to that, I wonder if we'll hear anything of Roy's reaction, when she calls Bulgaria.

I would have thought it could even be a four figure sum. After all, the driver won't have had any chance of a return fare. If it had occurred to Kate to go to Brodie, he would probably have driven them both south.
#TheArchers
I'm hoping that, tomorrow or Friday, we will hear that that's exactly what he did do, arriving in Blackpool in plenty of time for the birth. Assuming Phoebe is in full labour now, she certainly won't tell her mother, so that she can't take over.
#TheArchers
Jakob might, if that means that the loads were more evenly balanced between the cars, and to allow room for Phoebe's rocking cradle.
#TheArchers
Presumably, that's where the nearest base / office for their car hire company is.

I think that's a large part of the reason that so many of us have stuck with TA, and Ambridge, over so many years. Pretty well all of the long term characters are properly three dimensional, nuanced, characters. The same applies to a good many of the main stories, as well.
#TheArchers
I'm not so sure about that. When her dad was talking to her, his opposition seemed to be driving her back into George's arms. If there's no obvious opposition though, there's scope for the relationship to just fizzle out.
#TheArchers
Yes, that, as well. Plus, it would make it harder for Amber to paint her dad as the bad guy, when it all goes pear shaped.
#TheArchers
Quick second thought. I wonder how many jobs at a car dealership would be open to someone who is missing their driving licence. He wouldn't be able to help move cars from A to B or take people on a test drive, for example.
#TheArchers
I'd been wondering that. It would make sense, both from the perspective of getting to know him, and judge him, better, and in order to give both him and Amber the best chance of establishing themselves.
#TheArchers
They certainly don't seem to be aware of it but, in this case, DWP will expect Amber to support him, as they're living together. You'd expect George, if not Amber, to be outraged at this though.
#TheArchers
As they're both under 25, the standard amount for UC is only ยฃ497.55 per month and, as Amber appears to be working near enough full time, she must be earning well over that. As they have neither housing costs nor children, they're unlikely to get anything from UC.
#TheArchers
Yes, it's really tough for him, which is entirely realistic. Having to be completely financially dependent on Amber will put huge stress on their relationship, especially given how new it is. I was glad to hear him talking about looking for a job outside Ambridge though.
#TheArchers
They would, absolutely, consider Amber to be George's partner and treat them as a single household. If George lied about the fact he had a partner, he *might* get away with it but, if they found out about her, that would definitely count as fraud and he'd be back inside.
#TheArchers
As they're living together, she would be considered his partner. Living with George's dad, they wouldn't be able to claim anything towards housing (not that Will's charging them anyway), so it's very unlikely that Amber's income is low enough for UC to pay them anything.
#TheArchers
Surely Tom and Helen should be discussing the possibility of George working at Bridge Farm with Tony and Pat, even more than Alice, as they'd be the ones overseeing him.
#TheArchers
Didn't he take out a small loan against it, to help Ed and Em set up their tree surgery business? Still smaller than most mortgages though.
#TheArchers
I'm pretty sure he did get her acquitted. Up till then, she'd thought him rather staid and boring but, after that, started to value his more stolid qualities rather higher than Nigel's high spirits.
#TheArchers
Yes, it was Phil who phoned and asked her to pick him up unexpectedly, but she'd had a glass or two of wine. At the time, Phil was a magistrate and had to step aside and not sit the day her case came up. I think this was before Mark was on the scene, but I'm not sure about that.
#TheArchers
OK, thanks, I'd forgotten that. I remembered that she left her independent school, to go the local sixth form college (or similar) for A levels but I'd been thinking that her previous school had been boarding.
#TheArchers
Erm, Alice, you also went to boarding school and then to university. You're right that Adam isn't likely to want to either retire or move elsewhere though, in the next few years.
#TheArchers
I think that emigration, at least to the other side of the bypass, would be his best option. Lilian's shown how difficult it will be for him to redeem himself, if he stays in the village. No matter what he does, there are too many people who would always believe the worst of him.
#TheArchers
Yes, it's always a good rule of thumb that, when someone says that to you, it's very unlikely that you want to choose them.
#TheArchers
Given David's history as the local NFU rep, along with his, and Ruth's, assorted projects cooperating with other farms, such as Hassett Hills, and with how close a neighbour Mulligan was, I find it surprising that David didn't even know his name.
#TheArchers
Is it? My mistake then. Bert Gibbs has long since departed from my memory, as well as from Ambridge!
#TheArchers
I agree, it is a dispiriting prospect, isn't it ๐
#TheArchers
Bert Fry, Freda's Bert, whose retirement job was as a farm labourer at Brookfield.
#TheArchers
I assume this is the shock which will lead to David and Ruth reassessing their lives and handing the farm on to Pip and Stella.
#TheArchers
So sorry for your loss but I'm glad it was peaceful.
