Dear all scientists and everyone who cares about #NIH and medical cures:

This is very important! Please read the thread and blog post.

The Supreme Court looks very likely to blow up NIH grants and create chaos. Decision could come any time.

Noise is the second leading environmental cause of disease and death in Europe, second only to air pollution. Itโ€™s time for other regions, especially the U.S., to recognize that noise isn't merely a nuisance but a serious public health issue. The first step is accurately measuring noise.

It is unbelievable that The Atlantic would publish this anti-science garbage.

The author is one of the COVID deniers who pushed โ€œherd immunityโ€ โ€” that is, โ€œkill lots of people so things can go back to โ€œnormal.โ€ This is a rightwing political stance. Why would the Atlantic publish him?

I sincerely think that universities should suspend their productivity standards for scientists and ask them instead to hold town halls in schools, public libraries, museums, shopping malls, and anywhere else and communicate what is being lost with the collapse of the research ecosystem.

We are getting a LOT of messages asking "why say the Democratic Senators need to be pressured, aren't they doing everything they can?"

No, they are not. Not close.

Democrats in the Senate are going along with what Republican Senators want, because they want to be buddy-buddy with those R's. 1/2

One workaround for including "censored" words in scientific writing is to spell them backwards - no need to change sentence structure while tripping up the bots/goons. For example, we investigate health effects of "etamilc egnahc" in the context of "latnemnorivne ecitsuj," particularly in "nemow".
