First time to my recollection that the NYT has called them "lies" instead of "falsehoods." Baby steps.

1. We're all vulnerable.
2. We need to post anyway. It's only going to get worse if we don't. Or more accurately, it's going to get worse either way, so do the right thing.

In fact it does have a name! In psychology and economics, it's the concept of "willingness to pay" (WTP) vs. "willingness to accept" (WTA).

For the same good or service, in many cases their value is different. Or for you math nerds, WTP/WTA ≠ 1.
