It becomes crystal clear what the playbook will be when the health of their figurehead finally fails. Anyone expressing a tiny bit of relief or even apathy will have their pent up rage vented be a target. It’s gonna be ugly. He’s not doing well at all and they need a backup plan.

They are trying to strip us of the right to say anything remotely disparaging about them, while literally kidnapping people with secret police and declaring war on dissidents. This is fascism. It won’t stop. Be wise with your words, certainly, but complying in advance is not the answer.

There are no easy answers to this. The answers to the problems we have are complex and doing hard things takes courage as well as sustained effort by many people. Too many of us want a magic trick to solve things. We have to face the problem with open eyes.

Ironically, I know I am preaching to the choir and don’t even have much of a chance of breaking into the discourse because I don’t post enough. My own followers who are personal friends may not even see this. And Bluesky may be enshittified over time. But we are here now and it’s what we have.

This whole “Blueskyism” debate is a transparent attempt to silence the most viable alternative to the platforms that the oligarchs control. Yes, it’s imperfect. Yes, we need more avenues for discourse. But they are threatened by any dissent because it matters. Use your voice especially now.

Once upon a time, I thought that the internet was the coolest thing because anyone could get their words out to the world. I miss my innocence and optimism.

We need more voices to help us. If you can’t do anything else, share the post or tell someone you know. We save us. There’s no other option at this point.
