Last night on Final Fantasy VII: in a cave of death monsters for an hour until the game softlocks and we lose our progress.
Ah well, weβll get em tomorrow fellas
20. Grow Home (Steam)
A fun, experimental physics based game about a cute robot growing a vine so it can climb up to the mothership in orbit. Controls are wonky but in a fun way, and climbing to space has an awe-inspiring feeling.
Lyn from Fire Emblem! We were playing on Switch and named our silent protagonist PB&J. This continues a weird trend of naming our Fire Emblem protagonists after types of sandwiches.

Fun, short platformer. It can feel a little stiff at times, the hitboxes are punishingly precise and not always intuitive. But the rave music, flashing visuals and quick respawn time keep the energy flowing from start to finish.
Now playing Chrono Trigger
I knew this would be my new favorite game whenever I eventually played it. But wow the hook of the first quest drew me in immediately. Iβm super excited to keep playing
18. Fez (Steam)
A classic indie darling with an awesome idea. But the slow, methodical level progression seems to conflict with the open ended, collect-a-thon structure, and backtracking and reclimbing old levels isn't super fun.
Snail Girl!
From Super Auto Pets
17. Escape Goat (Steam)
Another older indie. Short and simple, pretty good for what it is. Platforming feels great. Some levels deemphasized the "puzzle" aspect and just felt like Super Meat Boy. But overall, a really great package. I loved the magic hat powerup.

16. Princess Peach: Showtime! (Switch)
So happy to get a Peach game, I just wish it could've stuck the landing better. Slow pacing and constant cutscenes destroy any desire to replay levels for collectibles. The fun transformations bring gameplay variety, at the cost of depth.
15. Picross 3D: Round 2 (3DS)
This game is like crack. When I closed my eyes, I would see Picross blocks. The only other time I've had a stronger case of the Tetris effect, was from Tetris itself. Plus, it gives you more puzzles if you scan amiibo. A+ puzzle game.
Gotta get back to playing FFVII

29.04.2025 16:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 014. Super Meat Boy (Steam)
Still holds up. Movement feels incredible and nothing is better than executing a level flawlessly. I might go back to try a few speedruns, though I need some time for my thumbs to stop hurting. Felt good to finally beat this game after all these years.
13. Thomas Was Alone (Steam)
Another 4 hour indie from Steam that I took 10 years to play for some reason. Fun experiment with how easily we personify even the most abstract shapes. The twist deals with technology in a way that waiting just 10 years changes how you view it.
12. The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game (Switch)
I got this in 2017 but barely played it. When I booted it up in 2025, I had one level left to beat before credits. At some point I played 90% of this game, and don't remember any of it. I think that sums things up pretty well.

Cover Art for Run #2 of our Masks Campaign
Last Nintendo console launch, I was in high school. I forgot that modern console launches are always a disaster, and you need to be refreshing 100 tabs at midnight on the dot for a chance to win the lottery and preorder.
So much for playing Switch 2 on my b-day weekend π€·
11. Super Meat Boy Forever (Switch)
Fun, simple spinoff with a different approach that unfortunately buckles under the weight of 10 years of sequel expectations. The randomized levels are a novel idea, but it make things feel less deliberate. But the animation is real nice.
10. Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe (Switch)
Picked this game up again to go for 100%. Reminded me how much care goes into every Kirby game, and they're very rewarding to complete. I love this art style and really hope we get similar quality remakes of the 3DS titles.
9. Super Auto Pets (iOS, Steam)
Became obsessed with this game for a bit and decided to go for all Turtle Pack ribbons (win with every pet at level 3). It drove me crazy but I did it! My favorite strats were food builds with the Worm or the dreadful Whale Hedgehog combo.

This game was so ahead of its time, and I'm glad the Switch provides a modern and easy way to try out the multiplayer. This was a blast. Where is the sequel?!
