"Women" were on the forbidden word list. The Women's Health Initiative helped us understand Hormone Replacement Therapy. We had this study because NIH had frequently *left women out* of their studies.

I hope it is not lost, in all of the chaos at the federal level, that there are many longstanding, discretionary programs that are on the Administration's chopping block, either directly or through the erosion of agency staff, expertise, and capacity. Programs enacted and reauthorized through...

Exactly this. What is bringing global and generational shame on the United States at this moment is not the actions of one person, but the limp abdication by countless powerful Americans walking away from their duty to stop it.

From what I'm seeing in Europe, the real game changer here isn't really the Trump admin itself, but how quickly American elites - political, corporate, institutional and academic - just failed to respond and resist in any meaningful way.
US prestige culture, as seen from abroad, just evaporated.

Books on race, gender identity and sexuality are gone. Books that acknowledge the cultural contributions of Black people to American art, or gendered or queer perspectives have been purged.

This is beyond crazy:"Research programs based on gender identity are often unscientific, have little identifiable return on investment, and do nothing to enhance the health of many Americans"

US doctors describe three patient deaths that could have been prevented with abortion access in new study
Doctors in states with abortion bans say patients were not told of abortion care as option for fear of legal consequences
Proud to be friends and colleagues with @hauschildt.bsky.social who did this crucial and heartbreaking work examining how abortion bans are making the quality of care worse for all pregnant people (and occasionally killing them)

More and more right-wing politicians cynically use Jews as scapegoats to justify hateful policies against other groups, such as Muslims, immigrants, or academic institutions.
It's an old trope to blame Jews for unpopular policies and to pit minorities against each other. Please don't fall for it.

So, who are the actual economists participating in this regime?
Is it time for some professional accountability? Because this is appalling nonsense and if you don’t support it, you should say so.
