+Hefner’s skills and recent track record, the farm system (both for trade purposes and for young MLB-level talent), and Steve’s obvious full blown commitment to spending (wisely)+winning along with the fun last years team had, signals positively for the Mets and the family style culture they built

knowing the chemistry won’t be thrown of at all now that he’s back! His support of the pitching staff this postseason was a huge positive boost. I look forward to seeing what he can bring out of the new rotation as well as continue his Chris Sale-esque mechanical changes! A great early Xmas gift.

We saw how important relationships and vibes are for a teams success this year - with Manaea being one of the more prominent supporters of his teammates and being a leader - having him pair up with his friend Montas as well as last years squad, this signing truly provides a sigh of relief knowing

In case you have not been awake for the last eight hours:

- Sean Manaea for three years and $75M to the Mets (there is deferred money in the deal)

Never really heard him being mentioned as a possible trade target, however, he was categorically lumped into the SP “trade targets” that the Mets should be in on, on most of the larger networks trade proposals. I think the focus was/is Manaea/Sasaki with trade targets being a distant second choice

If they make a trade it would most likely be for a BP arm and/or Bench/DH. Pete is most likely back with the Mets which would likely bring us over the last luxury tax threshold. I personally feel it’s time to move on from Pete but having him in a lineup with Soto is enticing.

Very happy with the Manaea deal. Mets really needed to get a top end starter in order to feel comfortable with the rotation heading into 2025. I don’t think the Mets focus on adding another SP, however, this signing doesn’t take them out of the Sasaki sweepstakes. Don’t rule out a trade either.
