I suffered tremendously at Ohio State bc I got by on “natural talent”. I wasn’t lazy, as you saw, but I did have undiagnosed ADHD (found out in my 30s). It was hard on me.

Just get creative and have it match what excites them.

The assiduous one. Always. But that’s indicative of an adherence to “doing what you’re supposed to when you’re supposed to”. The other may be the more creative, but riskier as an adult. Boom or bust. Best you can do is impart and reward good habits now bc the latter will eventually need it.
