America does not want us to fund a lawless out of control ICE.

- No more roving patrols or profiling. ICE/CBP are not trained to do this. And it's wrong. Require warrants.
- No more secret police. Take off the masks. Show ID.
- And real accountability for murder and assault.

That incident could have very easily devolved into toxifying fear. There have been drips here & there of concerns of instigation, of false flags. But we don’t see paranoia set in. There’s too much to do. Busy hands, the intentionality of finding ways to be productive during downtime keeping it away.

These are not the actions of aloof, naive, untrained people. These are people who cut their teeth and are acting strategically to help tens of thousands of their neighbors weather the storm.

It’s “Kill them with kindness” at scale.

And it’s fucking working.

These are thousands of people who’ve ironed out dense networks of mutual aid & community defense. One person with a table stocked with free hand warmers was very intent that I tell “outsiders” that “We know what to do because we’ve been doing it since 2020.”

“That’s why everyone knew to come here.”

It’s easy, on the outside, to see a rogue agency murdering people, brutalizing people, lying through their teeth, and to want to fight them. It’s easy to see calls for nonviolence as enabling the agency harming people. It is harder to see the intentionality, discipline, and focus of resistance.

From the outside, we see snippets of chaos and pain and become consumed by a feeling of overwhelm and helplessness. On the ground, though, it’s busy hands, people finding things to do to be helpful. Productivity and kinship to stave off the doom spiral.

“We’re not taking the bait” was almost as common a refrain as “Fuck ICE.” It was like this unspoken collective awareness and agreement that this is all a test, trying to provoke conditions to ferry in outright fascism nationally. Maybe true, maybe a rationale to help cope with unimaginable pain.

I spoke to so many people who all shared — both before and after Pretti was killed — a sense that the federal government was retaliating for the 2020 uprising, that this was a ploy to break an epicenter of resistance, and an effort to instigate people into triggering a Constitutional crisis.

Trump-administration officials and MAGA influencers have repeatedly called these activists "violent" and said they are involved in "riots." But the resistance in Minnesota is largely characterized by a conscious, strategic absence of physical confrontation. Activists have made the decision to emphasize protection, aid, and observation. When matters escalate, it is usually the choice of the federal agents. Of the three homicides in Minneapolis this year, two were committed by federal agents.

The dynamics in the Twin Cities are so hard to grasp from a distance, and become tremendously clear as soon as you encounter people there.

The people cheering on the state murdering people want you to think those opposed to that violence are "terrorists."

That would mean they are suggesting he deserved to be target of an extrajudicial execution.

It looks like the account is basically posting two such NEWSOM IN CRISIS videos every day, and they're all just made up nonsense. Call me crazy, but I don't think the President of the United States should be posting made up AI slop fake news videos from a fake rando YouTube account.

Two weeks ago "Robin Wright" showed up. And all of her video thumbnails look basically identical. And they're ALL trying to claim that Gavin Newsome is collapsing or panicking or stunned or whatever. It's all just AI slop. You can see when the account flipped.

The account only started posting two months ago, and it posted a few dozen videos that are all 100% AI slop videos about World War II.

These are narrated by an AI generated male voice. THere is no "Robin Wright" in these videos.

The video itself has multiple signs that suggest strongly that it's AI. All the imagery it shows is AI. And the "anchor" who says she's "Megan Wright" speaks in a clipped pattern that sounds like AI. Anyway, I went to look up "Megan Wright" and found a YouTube page set up just a few months ago.

Post on Truth Social from Donald Trump. He's reposting some rando MAGA account saying: More bad news for Gavin Newson, The world's largest employer Walmart is closing 250 stores in California citing $22 per hour minimum wage leaves them on competitive with their small profit margin, wewee that's a big number, this man has the fifth largest economy in the world and has a more than $20 billion budget deficit and he wants to be president of the whole United States and the sad part is there will be more than 60 million people that will vote for him. This is over a video supposedly about Newsom and Walmart.

So the President of the United States of America is posting to his personal social media network blatantly fake news videos that I'm pretty sure are AI generated slop. This one is supposedly about Gavin Newsom panicking that Walmart is pulling out of California (it's not).
