We had a great division journal club this week with Dr. Nwankwo discussing a novel technique to monitor hemodialysis accesses and Dr. Hawkins (pictured) discussing whether to add SGTL2is or GLP1s first for patients with diabetic kidney disease.

Our team crashed the event to learn and enjoy some time with our amazing UNMC Rheumatology colleagues (+ some former neph fellows showed up)!
We had a great Renal Potpourri conference to end September with Dr. Hoenemeyer reviewing ANCA-associated vasculitis, Dr. Wekesa discussing hypokalemia-associated nephropathy, and Dr. Langewisch bringing the team through how to approach the common question of "can I stop pred?"

We kicked off the academic year with a Division Family Barbeque!!!
The afternoon included face painting, an ice cream truck, and a wonderful time with our team!

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.
They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.
Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.
Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.
Such a shame to see him go, a real talent and such a brilliantly versatile defender.
It's clear the seriousness of these knee injuries has played a part, but there should be no recrimination for the player. He's been a model pro, just hugely unfortunate.
