Putting down the camo pattern for the basalisk. Still needs one more layer of wild rider red before I can start on the troll slayer orange.
Always nice to see the camo come to life!

Put the finishing touches on the scout sentinel today. It was a very happy moment to out the kitbashed catachan crew inside.
I've also started on the basalisk. Blocking out the red and silver areas to get a feel for the model before starting the camo patterns.

More work on the sentinel. Bases are done for both, and sentinel 1 is almost finished.
Pretty much just the crewman, the little pack of gear and a few little details to finish it up. Maybe a highlight for the silver too.

This month the guard armyngets some armouredcsupport, with 2 sentinels and a Basalisk.
They are all constructed and undercoated, some sentinel 1 is getting painted to test the camo design. I think it's successfully obscuring the shape of it already!

30 catachan infantry and a 5 person command squad. Painted in a black and orange lava world scheme with red weapons.

Finished the last of the catachan infantry squad and command squad, so now the army is up to 250 points!
Should be enough infantry to make a good start to a guard army, next month I'll change to get some armour to support them!

Finished up the second squad of Catachans for the lava guard regiment.
Up to two squads complete now and a whopping 120 points of painted guard!
Due to my mass batch painting though, the next 130 points should only be days from completion!

Still painting up that massive Catachan batch. I've had to split up the batch a little as i've got 2 different skin tones to paint synthetic Caucasian half are now done.
After that it's just eyes, then camo patterns on cloth and they're done!

More work on the Hades IX 3rd Regiment 1st infantry platoon.
All the basecoats are down so we're in highlight town! Orange vests are done and I'm starting on the red weapons next.
I love seeing these come together. The Lt is especially standing out with his bright armour!
Yeah kinda lookd like a predator turret up top? Rear gun looks like chaos land raider turret. Front gun I've got no idea.

As far as I can tell it's some deathguard conversion? But I don't know my horus heresy and marine tanks that well, especially as its come from a source known to have forgeworld bits.

Continued work on the Emporer's finest. Brown boots and bags, along with a coat of black for trousers and jackets.
Batch painting this large a group is strangely therapeutic, I only manage one colour a session, but it really feels like the army is marching to completion.
Given the naming seen in the imperium I'm not sure it's that far off base!
I was considering something like Inferno IV or the (apparently existing in lore) Hades IX.

More work on the 'Flaming Third' guard regiment. Need to come up with a name for thier lava planet one day...
Squad 1 is complete, and I've started batch painting 26 more infantry; squads 2, 3, and a command squad.
Should give me a full platoon as a base for my army.
Thanks, I'm particularly fond of it. Knew I wanted to do orange guard, was torn between catachan on a lava world or penal guard.

The first 5 catachans for my new year new army project are done. 5 more are nearing completion, hopefully to be finished tonight.
Plenty more to do though, 3 more full squads and a command squad to try and finish by the end of Jan!

The busyness of the holidays has stopped me updating, but not painting.
First the Idoneth Spearhead is complete. Always a treat to finish a project, even if they took too long.
Now it's new-year new-army time with the lava world catachan. Starting with 35 infantry this month!

Making steady progress on the giant Dogfish. More or less done now, mostly base details and a bit of touching up to go.
That will leave me with the 2 crew and the mage left to finish the spearhead!

Painting is back on the menu!
My mojo is back and with it I've started on the next Idoneth unit.
The giant Dogfish. Yes they are sharks! Ones which I caught frequently with my dad when I was young and he took me fishing in his boat off the UK's south coast.

I think I've painted more in the last 3 days than in the prior 3 weeks! Feels good to make some solid progress!
And with tonight, the eels are done!
The eels, clearly the horses of the sea, are ready to carry the *nearly* normal elves on top to battle.

I've been knocked on my ass by this flu in the UK, so tonight was the first night I had a decent painting session in a while.
Finished painting the amour and skin of the eel riders tonight, still need to do red and blue bits before attaching to mounts and a final detail pass.

Wow 12 days since my last update!
Eell the point of hobbystreak is some progress is better than no progress.
Shark is assembled and base is half made. The elves are all sprayed ready to paint and the eels are progressing, just the red and a detail pass and they're done!
I may be biased, but I'm damn proud of the business my Wife has made, with a little help from myself, of course.
