Here's our strategy for this problem (three people with too many must-haves). We make one green bean dish at Thanksgiving and then a couple of days later we make green bean casserole to go with leftovers. Similar for competing squash dishes. It's a Thanksgiving weekend, not one meal.

Who decided pistachios belong in the produce section instead of with all the other nuts? And why has every grocery store gone along with this madness instead of standing up for common sense?

What are people not liking about it? As a viewer well below the level of "casual fan" (i.e. this was the first football game I have seen this decade) I found it, as you say, easy to decipher and see from across the room.

old wordle score -- neat array of black, yellow, and green squares
new wordle score -- wonky uneven lines of white, yellow, and green squares
I know I'm late to the game here, but what on earth happened to wordle scores? They used to be these lovely patterns in a neat rectangular array, and now they're such a mess. When did this happen and why??

Yes! Spotify has helped us find so many artists that we never would have known about otherwise. But then we go and purchase their music (except we're old school and buy cds).

You put the meat and vegetables right in the rice cooker with the rice? I've never heard of that before. Sounds like it could be a real game-changer for quick meals!

Meanwhile, I sit silently because I'm virtually incapable of interrupting -- I just cannot do it. I'm pretty sure mom thinks she needs to fill the silence because I'm not talking, but I can't talk until there is silence, so . . . it's a problem

OMG yes. A string of, "Did you get that problem at work resolved, or is it still an issue, or is it the kind of thing that comes and goes, or do you not know yet, are you going to have to wait and see over a few months what the situation is, were you able to try . . . ."

I was just reading today about a town in Sweden that switched its snow clearing protocol to prioritize side streets and sidewalks before main roads (the reverse of their previous method). The result -- fewer injuries and lower costs.

Makes sense to me. Cooking happens out in the kitchen, but kids might not see the invisible work of planning meals. It's kind of startling becoming an adult and discovering how much background work it takes to run your life and home. There's way more "figuring out what to do" than I realized.

The grocery store piped music has changed from 80s to 90s. It's been a few weeks, and I fear the switch is permanent. I strenuously object as it seems to imply that 90s is oldies. Obviously false. Today they played Toad the Wet Sprocket. Completely unacceptable!

I remember once on GBBO, Paul Hollywood was making rolls. He said each one should be 50g or whatever and then just pinched off pieces of dough without measuring. Mary Berry stuck one on the scale and it was exactly right.

I weigh it out, at least for dough. For cupcakes and cookies, I just eyeball it. Probably professional bakers have enough experience that they can get it pretty close without the scale.
