31.07.2025 03:33 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Happy Medicaidβs birthday!! (also Medicare) Iβve been thinking a lot about why I love Medicaid more than anything in the world and Iβve landed on hope. Medicaid in its essence was built on hope- a hope in a better health care system, a dream that people most in need deserve health.
31.07.2025 03:31 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Medicaid was signed into law this minute 60 years ago! (2:55pm CT in Independence, MO) Happy birthday Medicaid! (also Medicare).
30.07.2025 19:55 β π 26 π 7 π¬ 1 π 0Mankind-that word should have new meaning for all of us today. Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July & you will once again be fighting for our freedomβ¦ from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist. We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish w/out a fight.

04.07.2025 18:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve spent my entire life working to improve the lives of people who are living in poverty. The need continues to get greater every day. I hope you join me in this drive because days like today make me want to fight harder for our collective humanity. I π you, Medicaid.
03.07.2025 21:50 β π 67 π 7 π¬ 0 π 0Today is the 112th birthday of Americaβs greatest bureaucrat, Wilbur Cohen- the founder of Medicaid.
10.06.2025 14:05 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0RESULT 1: Work requirements --> coverage losses
When CT imposed WR, SNAP coverage fell 25% + Medicaid enrollment was flat.
Translation β People lost nutrition support, not because they earned more, but because of paperwork.
If they were earning more they would be losing Medicaid eligibility.

15.11.2024 16:16 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 01115 waivers have created beautiful snowflakes in states to allow flexibility and innovation in the Medicaid program. Anything from the Oregon Coverage expansions (the best), to Massachusetts doing things, to North Carolinaβs HRSN work.
15.11.2024 15:53 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Section 1115 was added to the SSA before Medicaid was (1962)! It was amended to include Medicaid in 1965. In the 1970s it was used for cost sharing which wasnβt allowed then. Because that was controversial Congress gave that power to HHS to regulate.
