i have lore about hallucinogens in the clan (evv'ara, if you care). they are crushed mushrooms found in the bogs of lower ilsabard, brought yearly by hunters in spring as offerings. they are used to see into a child's future, decide migration patterns, and commune with their pantheon.

rin smokes various substances, mostly a tobacco like herb but he does dabble in more potent drugs, usually in the presence of others. his clan elders used hallucinogens for ritualistic purposes but he only ever watched, he wasn't deemed fit to accept the visions

continuation of comic. the young miqo'te doubles over, then begins to laugh, losing color. she holds her arms open in a shrug like gesture, smiling brightly. blood stains the front of her shirt. M: rotten to your core! the final panel is fully colored, showing a broken mirror reflecting wol from his position on the ground, pistol still held up.

continuation of comic. esteem returns to its original shape, having pushed wol to the far wall. it stands just behind where it dropped the shawl. wol collapses to the ground, leaning back. ESTEEM: hmph. sniveling babe. all shades of green, still. a panel in esteem's shape, looking with one, wide eye at the viewer. ESTEEM: what is there to fear?

continuation of comic. some color has returned to the room as a small miqo'te, wearing the shawl around her waist, stands in place of esteem. wol remains monochrome. panels arranged in 3 by 6 grid, all solid black, except for 5 panels: 1 (first row, left panel) the young miqo'te looking down with hints of a smile. 2 (second row, right panel) wol looking up, distraught. 3 (third row, right panel) wol reaching for a pistol that appeared discarded on the floor. 4 (fourth row, middle panel) wol aiming said pistol. 5 (fifth row, left panel) the young miqo'te holding her hands up, fully smiling. esteem appears in every other panel. the middle panel of the 6th and final row depicts a spark like a gunshot.

continuation of comic. esteem, breaking panel, reaches for wol to snatch the shawl off him and then tosses it to the ground. it closes in on wol, taking the shapes of thancred, who calls him prideless, and minfilia, who dubs him faithless.

continuation of comic. wol pushes esteem out of panel but is trapped further when it takes on zenos' face. it tilts his chin up, and the blood trickling from where he gouged zenos' third eye drips down its nose and onto his forehead. ZENOS: pointless.

colored digital comic. it opens with esteem watching wol trying on a shawl, despondent. esteem juts in, shifting to look like ilberd in white adamantite gear. wol looks back at it surprised. the colors all fade into monochrome, except those of the shawl's which is bright red with gold tassels. dialogue reads: ESTEEM: strange. foreign. isn't that right- ILBERD: -lass? WoL: you...? why? WoL: why won't you leave me be?

continuation. two panels of esteem (as ilberd) cornering a panel with only wol in it. dialogue within reads: ILBERD: heh heh heh... ILBERD: it is you who conjures me. us. splinters you deemed unsightly, coalesced. ILBERD: all to soothe yourself. a panel in esteem's shape, arms spread out in mockery, encases wol. ILBERD: look, see- ILBERD: i, too, am plagued! tortured! beset by fiends and hellsent! wol is horrified and voices denial.

one of my fav rin traits is that he seems like an alcoholic but he gets alcohol flush so he rarely if ever drinks. he's just naturally a bit manic in a 'girl who had too many wicked margaritas' way
