Holy shit I finally am able to get SDL3 to work with Docker and CMake. It took like 24 hours to get the OpenGL renderer and SDL3 to work together, because Docker isn't so easily graphics friendly out of the box.

Then once I get the foundational libraries, I can port my current engine to it

35 tracks gives me so much room to write such gorgeous music. It’s unreal just how beautiful some of these songs have turned out.

Give me a few more months, and I should have this breathtaking album done (if not, it’s because it is a VERY ambitious project)

A project like this is something that I get so wrapped up with, because with that space, I can really play around with things.

I like writing these lengthy compositions, because I can really explore a beautiful theme without (much) time constraints.

This dreamcore album I’m writing is 5 hours so far, and about 4 more hours to prepare. I sort of want it like a liminal space, and so that lengthyness helps.

So far I’ve sent a few people the lengthy tracks on this album, and they love em.

Because that is genuinely one of the last places that gives smaller artists a chance, and it's only good so long as you can replicate the success you get from appealing to this TikTok algorithm. Otherwise, prepare for your music to be buried and equivalent to AI slop factories that churn out content

And what this does is create a scenario in which the DIY and underground scene will have less and less artists significantly breakthrough unless they engage in trying to directly appeal to the algorithm. This is why some people call modern day pop music TikTok algorithm music.

So you get an issue where platforms only get worse with recommending new music, and people aren't complaining since it's just easier to pull up the nostalgic "good music" of yesteryear. Don't get me wrong, I love listening back to older tracks, but it seems that this is where the algorithms care now

Sure, is it a good idea to post to more platforms? Yes, but it isn't a longterm solution given how most algorithms find music not as engaging as other types of content, like memes and ragebait. And many consumers just do not care enough for platforms to even care in the first place.

Sure, there are exceptions you can point to, but for many musicians at the moment, the reach on YouTube has been diminished from thousands of impressions to 10-15x+ less than that. This is not sustainable, and it's only continuing to get worse the more months that go by.

I genuinely wonder where musicians are supposed to go to post their music when most social media websites are very much opposed to giving original music any significant reach. YouTube's algorithm has gone from being great to downright awful in these past few months for DIY/underground artists

Idk how Nikon did it, but they designed one of the sharpest vintage 135 at f/2.8 lens that I’ve ever seen. It’s sharp at infinity too (although there is some slight focus falloff) at 2.8, which is crazy for a compact lens of this size.
