Things I had not thought of about this topic.

My grandparents used to run theirs overnight, and then in the morning they’d close up all the windows, run the AC for a half hour to get the humidity out, and the house would stay cool most of the day.

See also: whole-house fans! I still remember my mother standing at the top of the stairs after turning ours on, eyes closed, hair drifting back in the fresh breeze. Now I do the same, 2000 miles from that house, in the evening after a hot day.
