My schedule has opened up to allow more yardwork this year and I'm getting to know my plants better. Today I did a major trim on overgrown bushes. I'm excited to see how they respond so I can better prune them next year.

This woodpecker has been hanging around our neighborhood for a few weeks and I finally got a good picture of it. I had to zoom way in because it hides behind the tree when I get close, so the image is a little blurry.

The Merlin app says it's a red-breasted sapsucker.

First snow of the season in our neighborhood.

It's a small thing, but I put up a progressive flag on our front porch this morning. Hopefully it can help people feel less alone.

My 5 year old had an exciting new idea to share with me today. He calls it "movie day". It's like a movie night, but you watch the movie during the day. He wants to make sure everybody knows they can do this.

We watched Muppet Treasure Island while wrapped up in 3 blankets to celebrate.

I've since been reminded that MeWe has a very similar feature set to Facebook, but has privacy and user control as primary focuses.

It's been a while since I got that new social network energy where friends pop up and I get to add them. But the big question is, are they able to make money long term without degrading the experience.

I have an account from years ago when a friend was trying to leave Facebook. I've followed you. It's a pretty chill place.

I'd love it if we could make RSS feeds a thing again. People post wherever they want and you can add it to your list of stuff to look at.

It was the Owl Diaries! He enjoyed hearing me read it, but hasn't been interested in reading it himself. I think it's more "slice of life" than he prefers. He really likes over the top adventure and jokes.
