The addresses one drives me nuts. I'm endlessly struggling with auto-incorrected addresses from PirateShip and USPS because of these rules that aren't rules.

This seizure of tariff power by the president without an actual emergency is illegal. It is an attempted coup, deeply harmful and corrupt. Congress and the Supreme Court going along with it has made the coup successful, locking in the harm and the corruption.

We should not accept this.

The only solutions require that Congress impose tariffs rather than the president, that Congress ratify trade agreements, that WTO rules about tariffs are followed, and that corruption is severely punished. This is how it used to work, and how it is supposed to work.

Also unlike other taxes, tariffs are imposed by dictatorial decree, and there is no requirement that they be even-handed or remotely fair. The president can make tariffs higher or lower at will for any country, industry, or company that bribes him to do so. This leads to unlimited corruption.
