Exclusive: NIH to dismiss dozens of grant reviewers to align with Trump priorities The move would undo years of work, leaving advisory councils understaffed, and without the full expertise needed for reviews.

A real treat to have Professor Yong-Hwan Lee from Seoul National University presenting at #APPS2025 in Sydney, Aus. As many would know, Yong-Hwan is a pioneer in the rice blast field and always a pleasure to hear his journey through his career as well as his many recent advances.

Great talk by Chris Nellessen from the AUS Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry using MALDI-ToF as a biosecurity diagnostic. @arc-pbtc.bsky.social is working with DAFF to develop improved fruit fly diagnostic approaches - an important project with significant biosecurity implications.

I read this letter and it simply wreaks of the derangement that is operating at many levels of the current government. They only way forward (at our level) is to be openly critical of these policies and highlight the benefits of what we do and the outcomes from research funding, over and over again!

โ€˜Itโ€™s very lonelyโ€™: what are Australiaโ€™s university students missing out on? Many start their studies hoping to find friends, themselves and intellectual stimulation. More and more are finding theyโ€™ve been sold something else

A pretty damning indictment on university student experience - hard to see how this changes (other than fund universities properly and provide free education ...) www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
