My cousin Al had polio when I was 7 and he was 3. It was a terrifying event, even if at that young age I couldn't grab the immensity of this tragedy. Al's two younger siblings were displaced, U with us and L, too young to walk, with aunt Maria.
Nothing will change. Neither in US nor in the rest of the world.
The rich and powerful will be even richer and more powerful. The poor and the vulnerable will become even poorer and more vulnerable.
I pity myself and my stupid dream of leaving the world a better place.
