Man RSC is amazing. The interplay you can have between client and server - to reduce resource usage on the server is awesome

In my real world example I lazily convert markdown into html based on if it's visible or not; doing this in rsc is a cinch.

The unsung principles of RedwoodSDK We had Peter Pistorius on ShopTalk to talk about RedwoodJS and the projectโ€™s pivot to an almost entirely different project called RedwoodSDK. I am a complete outsider but I liked what RedwoodJS (the o...

669: Peter Pistorius on Developing RedwoodSDK Weโ€™re chatting with Peter Pistorius about the change they made from RedwoodJS to RedwoodSDK, how itโ€™s going to handle routing, some new marketing ideas for RedwoodSDK, how RedwoodSDK&#8โ€ฆ

We had Peter Pistorous on @shoptalkshow.com to talk about @redwoodjs.com and their pivot to RedwoodSDK. Spoiler: I was pleasantly surprised by the principles:

- Zero magic (code gen or transpiler hacks)
- Composability over configuration
- Uses native Web APIs

What impressed me was prioritizing economic justice at the framework level. That manifests in minimal code sent to the client hosted on a Cloudflare edge worker for free; reducing costs for website owners and customers.

No $20/mo hosting lock-in scheme.

Wish #webcomponents had an SDK like this...

We've shipped an early proof of concept for client-side routing in RedwoodSDK:

SaaS Is Just Vendor Lock-In with Better Branding | RedwoodSDK The pitch of modern SaaS is "don't reinvent the wheel." But every wheel you bolt on comes with some friction.

I wrote something:

But in 2025? It kinda does.
Too much integration, not enough code.

Today on PodRocket, @p4p8.bsky.social talks @redwoodjs.com, clean code, and tools that just work. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ˜Ž London brought the heat yesterday (29ยฐC!) but we had a blast at ๐ŸŒ Region: Earth: London!

Huge thanks to everyone who came, to our amazing speakers:
@megaconfidence.bsky.social @ello.tech @nataliemarleny.com
@p4p8.bsky.social, and to Cloudflare for hosting us!

I think one of the reasons React stuck with me is because it taught me how to think.
Not just about components, but about breaking problems down. Same goes for request/response. It's grounding.

RedwoodSDK allows you to co-locate entire sections of your web-app. You to think like the web works!

25.04.2025 16:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

You only get so much time. Spend it becoming a better builder, not just a better user.

24.04.2025 16:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Is it helping you understand techโ€”or just teaching you to use a product?

If youโ€™re curious about how things really work, start closer to the metal.
Learn the core ideas. Build with tools that make sense to you, not just to the enterprise.

24.04.2025 16:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I was lucky. When I started, big tech hadnโ€™t abstracted everything yet.
We learned the fundamentals because thatโ€™s all there was.

Today, youโ€™re surrounded by tools that hide the basics behind glossy UIs and certifications.
Before you spend years learning one companyโ€™s abstraction, ask yourself:

24.04.2025 16:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

React isn't just a UI library. The first time it clicked, it rewired how I thought about software. It became a tool for thought. Just like the request and response cycle is more than a protocol, It's a mental model. A way to orient yourself in the chaos of vibe programming.
