The situation in social care is far less visible but arguably even bigger issue.
Shortage of formal and informal care means we can’t discharge people quickly and safely from hospital. And people are not supported to live well in the community either, putting them at risk of hospital admission.

Make no mistake. Every politician, pundit & online grifter amplifying Musk's dangerous lies will be aware of this intervention by now. Make no mistake, they are choosing to mislead the public & politicise the suffering of victims in the shameful pursuit of political advantage, attention & clicks.

I've heard a lot of that in the housing sector. The to-ing and fro-ing on section 21 and EPC minimums has left a lot of people unwilling to commit until there are definite dates in law. I spoke to taxi drivers who had similar in relation to the CAZ. I'm with you on this - uncertainty is bad!

But definitely needs to be part of the conversation. Especially in those areas that are still wedded to parallel routes (ahem...)

Yes - we do rather need the Green Energy Revolution we were promised. Is it also about parts/maintenance etc? There seems to be a skills shortage in most of the sectors that are needed to revitalise the economy, I suspect this is no different

I suspect until the cost of the alternative comes down to something in the hundreds rather than tens of thousands of pounds it feels discriminatory to remove the option

One of the things I really hope comes out of the increased interest around #AssistedDying is better conversation around end-of-life planning and support in all its forms. All adults should think about what they'd want - and crucially share it with loved ones

If anyone UK-based is confused about the Connor/Elon thing:
The best 'old media' comparison is Louis Theroux interviews.
Connor has a low-key style that interviewees respond genuinely to. The nice people engage nicely. The arseholes out themselves while thinking they're smarter than him.

A lot of people on minimum wage in hospitality or security work very long weeks, where those in cleaning, retail and care roles are more likely to be part-time (and women)

This flurry of delivery should set the tone for the rest of 2025.

The ultimate indignity. Have been Whamogeddoned in my own home because the walls of my semi-detached house are not enough to withstand the fact that my neighbour very clearly eschewed earplugs in his youth. *sigh*

Me aged 30. I was in LA and dressed up to go to a posh do (hired tux). My hair is slicked back and, in black and white under bright Californian sun, my skin looks impeccable. I’m looking directly into the camera with a closed mouth smile. I look like a movie star.
Selfie. I’ve got very freshly cut hair and I’m looking directly at the camera with a similar smile. I’m wearing a vest. My lines are deeper, my eyes heavier, but I’m still in pretty good shape for a 57 year old.
I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years.
That was 27 years ago.
Honour those we lost.
Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV.
Make HIV stigma history.
