Finally getting clear, low moonlight nights for some night sky imaging. Look due east after dark and you may catch the Pleiades or Seven Sisters (M45).

This image uses over 1,000 stacked photos shot across four nights for a total of 27.5 hours integration.

My longest integration, excluding throw away subs, is over 90 hours. So this sounds like a fun challenge. I'm in bortle 3 but I can reach bortle 1 in a 2hr drive!

Oh, very cool! Didn't know that Ha region was there. I have a new 2600MM coming my way so that too will be in reach (vs the little 533MC I started with). I have a 183MM but it's too noisy for my liking.

This is Markarian's Chain. A string of galaxies in the Virgo cluster. Look carefully. Really ZOOM IN. There are TONS of faint fuzzy galaxies in there. I plan to revisit this field in the future and see if I can go even deeper, capturing even fainter galaxies.

It's a real beauty. Sadly, this sits pretty low in the southern horizon for my latitude (~36°N). I should see if I can get lucky next June when is above the mountains.

Fantastic narrowband target. I shot that one a while back. I should see if it is good enough to share.

And here are the babies from the prior spawning. Hungry hungry hippos they are!!! Another month or so and they may be big enough to re-enter the main tank without being eaten by bigger, hungrier hippos.

Lets add a new layer of interests! This is my breeding pair of Lamprologus ocellatus "gold" from Lake Tanginika in Africa. They have spawned many times. If you look carefully below the mom's mouth (smaller one) and in the shell, there is a tiny baby peaking out.

Abell 85 - Garlic Nebula. This was a chase target for me a few years ago. It's quite dim, sits lower on the horizon in the neighboring city's light dome, and I used an older (noisy) camera. So this took a long time and a lot of processing. 91 hours of imaging. Worth it!

Ya, ya. I know it isn't even December yet, but the Christmas Tree Cluster (in the top-middle) and Cone Nebula (at the very top, pointing down) are pretty spectacular! This is an older capture of mine that I reprocessed.

My fool proof start: 50g rye flour, 50g filtered water. Refresh daily, dumping most but using the residual to grow the colony. After about 1-2 weeks doing this at room temp, you should be bubbly and good to go. From then, I maintain using cheaper whole wheat flour (rye starts more consistently)

I don’t know, never used a bread maker. Sour dough proofing is measured in hours, not minutes, so I have doubts. I bake in an oven using cast iron: inverted Lodge Dutch oven or Challenger (currently).

Weekly loafs. Sour dough with sun dried tomatoes, crispy onion, garlic, red pepper, rosemary and sage. House smells delightful. Can’t wait for them to cool to cut into!

Who doesn't love the Orion Nebula!? It has such dynamic range that you need to treat it as HDR with stacking exposures (3,30,300 seconds). The cotton candy like color is from using a special filter that passes H-alpha and O-III emission bands, processed as HOO instead of RGB.
