Reddish egret standing on sand, facing left, right foot raised. A dark, tall, long-legged, long-necked, long-billed surly moody dinosaur. This handsome intense egret is photographed against light colored water on an overcast day and his colors are all very muted because of the low light. Although the bird is overall very dark, colors can be seen in his feathers: deep blues and purples mark his wings and his rump is somewhat lighter in color. But his shoulders and neck and head are unimaginably dark and deep red-purple, nearly black. But his eye! It is bright yellow-white and picks up the bright calm water surrounding the creature.

This bird appears to be covered in oil but is not. This healthy lovely creature was photographed on an overcast afternoon on the Gulf of Mexico #birds

One of the most unusual and beautiful sights we had were the Buzzards, some of them had this amazing plumage and markings. Although we saw the most common type we have here in the UK, this one was in my eyes something special. It could be a young Buzzard but I am not sure. 😉😊 @rspb.bsky.social

Photographing Goshawks in Spain was no1 on my list. Having never seen one before in the wild, was an experience never to be forgotten. Their behaviour when eating prey was amazing to witness, especially when other raptors came close they would encompass the prey with their wings to protect it.
