"Why do you think the media only calls someone an anarchist when they're doing something violent? Why do you think the people who haven't so much as read a paragraph from an actual communist or anarchist are out here screaming about that being the biggest threat"

anyways thinking about how elves in lotr aren't good at stuff just through magical luck and talent, but through centuries of practice, which means baby legolas spent like a hundred years mastering the art of sliding down staircases riding on top of random shit, and thranduil HATED EVERY MOMENT OF IT

rough colored sketch of my green dragonborn wizard Oxalis and his brand new pet mimic book! Mimic is riding on his tail, happily looking up to Oxalis (who in game fed him his rations), who looks back at it equally happy. Oxalis is wearing his actual spellbook strapped to his thigh, and he is carrying a lunch box.

The other day I saw a video of an historian (maybe?) saying he didnโ€™t understand why billionaires are opposed to being taxed more because โ€œtaxation is the compromise.โ€ And that last ~500 years teaches us what happens when that compromise is not struck.

Canโ€™t stop thinking about it.

War and Peas Comic

Panel 1:
A narrator's voice begins, "The Sun has risen. Its golden orb quietlyโ€”" The Sun, depicted with a grumpy face, interrupts with, "EXCUSE ME, I do not 'rise.'"

Panel 2:
The Sun, now with an angry expression, shouts, "You all revolve around me!"

Panel 3:
The Sun continues, "Without me, you idiots would all be DEAD!" The background remains a clear blue sky with mountains in the distance and people looking at the sun.

Panel 4:
The narrator's voice resumes, "The Sun, a narcissistic asshole, has risen." The Sun glares down at the tiny people below shooting sunrays. The people flee.

Not long ago I watched all the Venom movies in a row on an airplane flight and I think I maybe now have an understanding, as a lesbian, as to why Tom Hardy is attractive. Is it because he's very emotionally open and vulnerable while also looking like he needs to be wrung out like a wet towel?

โ€˜Donโ€™t go to the US โ€“ not with Trump in chargeโ€™: the UK tourist with a valid visa detained by ICE for six weeks Karen Newton was in America on the trip of a lifetime when she was shackled, transported and held for weeks on end. With tourism to the US under increasing strain, she says, โ€˜If it can happen to me, i...

Again, I cannot emphasize enough: do not go to the US even if you're privileged enough to have never been scared or worried of a border crossing in you're life. Do not go ESPECIALLY for something as optional & outrageously expensive as GDC.

Just a reminder: if Bluesky ever feels "boring" that's probably a good thing. Social media shouldn't crave your attention 24/7. Having fun bits and pieces of stuff to see a few times a day, then returning to real life is far better for your mental health and brain function.

6 panel comic

P1: a cartoony and deformed depiction of Link from BotW, stopping to pick up a rock laying in some grass. Link has a smile on his face as he does so

P2: Link holds the rock above his head, as a Korok leaps up from the spot where the rock had been. They say "ya ha ha! You found me!" Link stares. Smiling.

P3: a beat, as Link continues to stare at the Korok, who stares back.

P4: an extreme closeup of Link, who has stylistically shifted to looking like he's stepped off the panel of a Fist of the North Star manga, black & white tones and all. His thick eyebrows scrunch together in frustration.

P5: We are back to the previous style, as Link --smiling, always smiling-- positions the held rock over the Korok...

P6: ...until he drops it on the Korok, who squishes cartoonishly as the rock bounces off their head, letting out a little "ouch!" Link's eyes closed with satisfaction as his smile grows wider.

The photo shows four images of the same Roman iron stylus (pen) one below the other, with knib to the left. This stylus is octagonal in shape, with an inscription dot-punched along its length on four alternate sides. The stylus is 132 mm long and 5 mm thick, and the letters are circa 2 mm high. The four images of the pen show the four lines of inscribed text (highlighted) which read:

โ€˜ab urbe v[e]n[i] munus tibi gratum adf(e)ro
acul[eat]um ut habe[a]s memor[ia]m nostra(m)
rogo si fortuna dar[e]t quo possem
largius ut longa via ceu sacculus est (v)acuusโ€™

Translated as

โ€˜I have come from the City. I bring you a welcome gift
with a sharp point that you may remember me.โ€จI ask, if fortune allowed, that I might be able (to give)
as generously as the way is long (and) as my purse is empty.โ€™

This inscription is generally interpreted by scholars as a humorous, tongue-in-cheek acknowledgment by the giver of the cheapness of the gift.

The pen was used to write on wax-filled wooden writing tablets. Found in London (Roman โ€˜Londiniumโ€™) by MOLA, during excavations for Bloombergโ€™s European Headquarters in 2010โ€“2014 . Photo by Juan Jose Fuldain for MOLA

Timeless humour!

A 2,000 year-old Roman souvenir pen with a joke inscription roughly equivalent to:

โ€œI went to Rome and all I got you was this cheap pen!" ๐Ÿ˜‚

Dated circa 70 AD, this iron stylus pen was recovered in London during excavations by MOLA. ๐Ÿ“ท Juan Jose Fuldain/MOLA

Jester's privilege

Jester's privilege is the ability and right of a jester to talk and mock freely without being punished; for nothing he says seems to matter.

Maladaptive pattern:

nothing i say seems to matter โ€”โ€”>
*i'm worthless" โ€”โ€”>
Depression

*

After cognitive restructuring:

nothing i say seems to matter โ€”โ€”>
"i have
jester's privlege" โ€”โ€”>
 No depression
