you will find something to love

there are no problems to solve when the experience is crafted to be as painless as possible. No story to be told when the odds are perfectly balanced to not be a problem. good art, video games included, should be alienating, should ask something of you, should make it's viewer grow.

with regards to that silly morrowind post going around: there is a type of beauty to making a completely smooth, frictionless, easy experience. however, i think humans are problem solvers, critical thinkers, storytellers. You do not get any of those things from a smooth experience

im not an expert writer or even a particularly well-read individual but man, sometimes video game writing just gets under my skin so bad. i played a game that had an interesting setting and world and then the main character spoke and it just killed all of my enjoyment of the writing
