SeeYou game - I have been working the note system for SeeYou the past few days to give the world some story. Here are a few bits of the lore notes you can find throughout the game. I have categorized them in A, B and C notes. A - Basic summed up lore (Shown here). #gamedev #indiedev #horrorgames

I am still working but only for a few hours per day and taking lots of time to do things like actually playing games and getting plenty of sleep. I will eventually resume full time development but not to to the extent of putting my health at risk. #indiedev #gamedev #solodev #crazystory

Except it wasn't.. I never even owned the physical book. I was reading LOTR.. and I thought my wife switched them out. You can imagine the confusion of coming to that realization at least. Anyway.. I decided to take a big step away from game development for now.

I know it's something that should be obvious but it wasn't and that.. freaked me out. False memories started developing in my mind at some point.. involving mostly things around the house. Like I could have sworn I was reading Game of thrones.. I knew it was on my nightstand.

There is no way to describe it. When you can't determine what's real because you know you're asleep and you wake yourself up only to find yourself in the same dream. Then finally you're awake but you still have the feeling you're asleep.

These dreams were different from anything I've ever experienced and the scariest things I've witnessed. I began to fear the thought of going to sleep and being trapped in one of my nightmares.. it sounds ridiculous I know.. I would probably laugh if I heard someone say that.

I decided to take a break for at least a few days to get back on track but I quickly realized I needed more time when I started to have nightmares I couldn't wake from. I had 1 during my sleep deprivation... I had 4 more once I started sleeping regularly again.

Seriously... I woke up with partial amnesia. I didn't know where I was and had a panic attack. This only lasted for maybe 15 minutes but.. in that situation, it felt like hours. I was scared at that point that I might have caused permanent damage.

I was developing conditions associated with severe sleep deprivation. Working 16+ hours per day and getting only 2 hours or less of sleep. I was on that cycle for over 3 months. I finally decided it was time to take a break when I woke up and couldn't recognize my own house.

Haven't updated here in quite some time so.. Still alive, still building videogames. As of the beginning of June or somewhere around that time, I decided to take a big step back from game development as I felt my mental health was suffering.

Much wow!
