Still baffles me how code geass got a sequel and it just didn’t cause any discussion because code geass’ success was truly the product of existing in 2006

If you wanted Shonen stuff past what was on toonami and 4kids you had to dig for it in piracy sites, or be really into the blue ray scene, so already more invested.
Not to mention how out of the 60 years the anime industry has existed 50% of all shows were made in the past 10 odd years

I feel like what’s really doing it is just the sheer variety and ease of consumption, anime used to be a fandom in and of itself, like “oh I’m into anime” and you’d be talking to someone with wider tastes, but now you can watch nothing but seasonal shonen and never run out, where as back in the day>

Not to revive this again but 4 really is just a prequel side story for for answer when you look at it as a whole, like. The story of 4 really doesn’t exist until the last 30 minutes
