Reading the original Conan stories is one of the most exhilarating and entertaining reading experiences I’ve ever had, because they’re so profoundly nonsensical and unpredictable.

Hard to judge without holding it in my hands, but from photos online etc that seems to be a standard hardback sized hardback book, with the cards presented as basically photos of the actual cards. Not how I would have done it.

So, with some googling, I find that there is a book of the Jim Lee X-Men cards! Must be where I got the idea. It’s not quite the format and presentation style I’d have gone for, but it’s still pretty much what I guess I’m asking for. But the one I REALLY want is the Marvel Superheroes Series 2 set.

Each card as a two page spread, art on one side, back of card info on the other.

At the very least, there should be books of series 1 & 2 and the Jim Lee X-Men series. The Jusko Masterpiece series would be cool too.

I can’t be the only middle aged nerd who’d lose their entire shit over them.

I’ve been listening to a new-to-me comics podcast- @ironageofcomics.bsky.social - it’s pretty squarely aimed at me, really; a read-and-discuss podcast specifically about comics from 1985-2000. It’s a nice, laid back listen, with two thoughtful and enthusiastic hosts. I like it!

Ha, I went in and fixed it in the version that’ll end up being the final one as soon as I noticed it. Now you’ve got me questioning that!
