Watched the same essayist do a video about Weird Westerns when looking for inspiration for my short story. Noticed it was nearly entirely influenced by video games and manga, sometimes very niche and obscure, but barely referenced any books or movies. Just a to the "old Western Unforgiven"

Its a weird one though as while it's all set up to be card outside major cities, nearly everything that's not a national chain is cash only because everyone is avoiding paying tax.

Feels like a lot of people are starved of idealistic futures that they forget the utopian nature of the Federation is stakes setting.

It also feels weirdly like the only one of the new series that is interested in being its own thing with internal stakes and not just fanservice and Canon quibbling. Despite all the call backs and metatext.

Did my graphic design dissertation on the old one, this could be a whole extra chapter just going "No no no no" 2,000 times.

I remember being at a con where one of the editors talked about the series for 2000AD he commissioned. When he mentioned the Space Girls people booed and he just nodded and was like "Yeah, I deserve that."

I've not even read many DC comics but I've still seen too many people fail the test of "is she bigger than Scott Free?"

Drawing two people in a room is difficult to make compelling. It requires a precise control over emoting and thoughtful composition.

There is a whole essay to be written about how literalism and realism being enforced as "the highest form of art" is a tool of fascism, especially when the people in charge get to decide what's "realistic".
