All in all, after a little research I stand by my opinion that the negative aspects of virtual idols are at the moment still greater that those of real life idols. Having a human soul behind your idols for me has more relevance even if the potential for controversies exists.

Idols in Korea are already under heavy pressure to behave and look perfect. Introducing AI idols who are able to be absolutely flawless will not help in making the K-pop industry less toxic and will only force more limitations like stricter diets, longer training hours in order to be able to compete

I would say that if you are a fan of K-pop you should be aware of both positive AND negative sides of being in the industry.

So, in conclusion, the bright side of Hallyu is definitely blinding fans. Thus by either just being ignorant or willingly ignoring the issues fans are supporting the covering up of any scandals.

They do not want to deal with possible negative aspects of this industry because then they would have to admit that their perfect idols are not so perfect after all.

As an international K-pop fan all these scandals are things that you will only find if you look for them. Towards the outside K-pop is portrayed as this fun and happy world full of beautiful men and women who sing and dance in perfect harmony. Many fans also chose to intentionally ignore problems.

Like this video shows there are rankings of their bodies which the of course also projects a certain image towards young girls in Korea who then try to look like them. Which is a whole other problem on its own.

I noticed that especially the later Jia-han seemed to constantly be searching for something without really knowing what exactly he is looking for in the end.
Ultimately I can only say that the movie felt kind of bittersweet but not in a bad way.

I think that that is kind of sad, to know that had you existed a little later a big part of yourself would have been treated so fundamentally different and so fundamentally better. However, as it is you get so see people have better opportunities than you had and that can also be something good.

I liked that some scenes moved quites slowely and the way the world around them was portrayed. The lesson that I took away from the movie was that even if you try to surpress who you are, it will only end up hurting not just yourself but also the people around you.
