Lex erotica? From interpretation to composition
My editorial @ljil-leiden.bsky.social just out today. I ask whether a life beyond #interpretation is possible for international lawyers, and offer #composition to think about the process of intl law's unfolding, and the experience of those engaging with it.

On A.I.
Remembering why we learn
Some reflections on my experiences of #AI in academia (tl,dr: too apolitical, too a-humanities). Hopefully of interest to anyone as ambivalent about tech zealotry as me.

If it helps, you can remove the ai-generated summary by adding -ai at the end of any google search. I'm not sure it differs environmentally since it might just be that the user no longer sees it but it's still being generated, but also nice not to have automated garbage shoved in your face...

A Substack on the international law academy?
Really?
Why, you ask? The constraints of academic writing, the publishing racket, and for a different - better? - scholarly community: intlegalcraft.substack.com/p/a-substack...

The justice factory: management practices at the International Criminal Court
In The justice factory, Richard Clements explores the relationship between global justice and management discourses that permeate the International Crimina
I had the pleasure to review The Justice Factory: Management practices at the ICC (academic.oup.com/ia/article-a...) for IA (@iajournal.bsky.social). Richard βͺClements' (@riclements.bsky.socialβ¬) pathbreaking book is a must read for those interested in the ICC and global governance more generally .

One way to understand the nature of legal work is to ask how the jurist becomes oriented towards their materials. What draws us in or excites us, what leaves us unmoved or repels us - (1/n)

Nick Clegg says asking artists for use permission would βkillβ the AI industry
Paul McCartne, Elton John and others signed an open letter.
Forgive me, but if your "industry" depends entirely on stealing someone else's work, it deserves to die.
