Some reflections on my experiences of #AI in academia (tl,dr: too apolitical, too a-humanities). Hopefully of interest to anyone as ambivalent about tech zealotry as me.

The justice factory: management practices at the International Criminal Court In The justice factory, Richard Clements explores the relationship between global justice and management discourses that permeate the International Crimina

I had the pleasure to review The Justice Factory: Management practices at the ICC (academic.oup.com/ia/article-a...) for IA (@iajournal.bsky.social). Richard β€ͺClements' (@riclements.bsky.social‬) pathbreaking book is a must read for those interested in the ICC and global governance more generally .

Nick Clegg says asking artists for use permission would β€˜kill’ the AI industry Paul McCartne, Elton John and others signed an open letter.

Forgive me, but if your "industry" depends entirely on stealing someone else's work, it deserves to die.

The WHO Pandemic Agreement: Equity for Developing States or Business as Usual? At 3am on Wednesday 16th April 2025, after three years of intense negotiations, WHO member states (minus the United States) preliminarily consented to a final text of the so-called Pandemic Agreement....

In a short piece I wrote for @ejiltalk.bsky.social, I ask how the finalised #PandemicAgreement innovates the existing #globalhealth infrastructure, and how it reflects/adjusts relations between global north/south states in seeking to tackle pandemics equitably.
