The core point of the judgment is that the Dutch Supreme Court left this legally clear issue to the counterbalancing policy decisions. The reasoning was disappointing, yet I still hope that the government finds "clear risk" (and no further balancing exercise).

T.M.C. Asser Instituut - Events
On September 30, the Asser Institute will organise a roundtable and networking event to explore how international and EU law could be effectively used and developed to address legal and societal challenges arising from the rearming of Europe. The event will introduce Prof. Dr Machiko Kanetake, the new academic director of the Asser Institute and professor of international law and security governance at the University of Amsterdam. Kanetake is an expert at the intersection of international law, security, human rights, and technology, with a focus on sanctions, arms and dual-use export control at the international, EU, and national levels, and the regulation of surveillance technologies
As Europe increases its defence production, how should law respond? Join us for a roundtable on 30 September that examines the role and direction of international & EU law in regulating governmental and corporate decisions in the development, export & use of weapons.

In its justification for the rejection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs fails to mention of the use of the profiling algorithm and doesn’t provide an assessment of its impact on human rights. The court hereby mandates a Fundamental Rights Impacts Assessment. 3/

International Law Experts: Genocide in Gaza?
Does Israel’s conduct in Gaza constitute genocide? LTO asked eleven international law experts. After 22 months of war, a clear tendency is emerging.
Legal Tribune Online (@lto-de.bsky.social) asked eleven scholars whether Israel's actions in #Gaza now meet the legal definition of genocide. I am quoted alongside @adhaque.bsky.social, @janinadill.bsky.social, @tomdannenbaum.bsky.social, @itamann.bsky.social and others. www.lto.de/recht/hinter...
