Photo of a public message chalk board with a quotation for visitors to the park and former home of Will Rogers. The quotation reads: "The trouble with you politicians is that you see, but you don't see far. You wear reading glasses when you're looking into the future. You got a putter in your hand when you should have a driver." - Will Rogers, October, 1927.

Oklahoma's great humorist demonstrated the power of language. This was displayed the last time I visited Will Rogers's home, a touchstone site for me each time I traveled to LA for Antioch's MFA, and to see my many SoCal friends and family. It's ashes now, too. Our hearts break for you, Angelenos.
