To even start mitigating this issue, therapists need to understand how #AI makes decisions—what data it’s using, how it chooses what’s important, and why certain things get left out. Without transparency and explainability, it’s impossible to make sure these decisions are truly fair & unbiased.(4/5)

We already know that AI tends to inherit & even amplify any biases that are already present. In behavioral health where accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment are critical, this becomes even more dangerous. If AI is making decisions based on biased data, it can lead to inequitable care. (3/5)

When #AI training datasets lack diversity, digital tools could be less effective when used with a more varied group or for more nuanced purposes. In behavioral health, that means missed symptoms, less effective treatments, and inaccurate descriptions of the client's needs and concerns. (2/5)

AI is an incredible tool, but like a lot of early-stage psychological research, it’s often trained on a narrow dataset. That’s a problem.

Provider turnover is a major #BehavioralHealth issue, much greater than client #retention.
Therapists need guidance, feedback, and mentorship, and #AI tools can fill the gap with real-time feedback and personalized supervision.
