Unrelated: UAB may be the most nonsensical team I've seen this year.

They are 1-6 at home in league play and 7-0 on the road, because of course.

Related: It's going to be really awkward/ugly when Auburn ultimately has to do what most knew they eventually would have to do.

We're nearing the end of that experiment, right?

The only reason I can give you to explain why teams like Georgia, Texas A&M, and Missouri are technically "NCAA Tournament" teams is because expansion has led to massive, bloated leagues that are able to game the metrics and get mediocre teams in the Dance.

My Worst Report: Lessons Learned From the Field Even the worst reports can turn into a positive if they change your thinking or provide a valuable lesson along the way.

Thought this was a very interesting essay about baseball scouting, especially the veteran scout who told the author why he can't just rule out everyone on a field: "You will be right more often than anyone in the department, but we’ll need to find a new scout.” blogs.fangraphs.com/my-worst-rep...

The two episodes about this case are as good as anything I’ve ever heard from a podcast.

Add the Robert Earl Keen song and, well… 🀌

I suspect that's going to change when/if Risacher and Porzingis return.

I'm just happy he's getting more minutes than Krejci (I know, I know!).

I've watched dudes completely blow off their last semester b/c they think they're going to play professionally.

They end up lasting a few months in one of the worst leagues/divisions in Eastern Europe and come home with nothing. No degree. No job prospects.

The point that's ignored in the "coaches can leave whenever they want & athletes can't" argument is that coaches are required to have at least a bachelor's degree to even get their jobs.

As it is, we're letting kids go to multiple schools and not graduate. When playing is over, then what?

I was today years old when I realized Dana Altman has won 20+ games every season he's been at Oregon.

That's *15* consecutive 20-win seasons.

I also say that because that streak is in serious jeopardy this year.

Quin Snyder's rotations are probably my No. 1 item on a list of issues for this Hawks season.

Currently flipping between a college game where the two teams combined to go 1/25 from 3 in the first half and an NBA game where my team is down by 30+ in the 4Q.

I have the most refined tastes.

He’s been a Hawk for 15 minutes and I’m already wondering what a short-term contract looks like in the offseason.

I mean, I can't even feel disappointed. Ole Miss got *this* far after [motions wildly].

Twenty seconds away from playing for a national championship in football. That wasn't fathomable pre-COVID.

The organization made a giant gamble on draft night that seemed almost guaranteed to go poorly.

A guard his size, with his deficiencies, can’t be your No. 1 option in this league.

They brought in a *bunch* of different players to try and make it work. It just didn’t.

08.01.2026 02:57 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It was time.

His limitations as a player ultimately couldn’t get the team out of perennial play-in status.

It also wasn’t his fault that the org. traded Luka for him on draft night.

By all accounts he was good to Atlanta, so I have no ill will towards him at all.

Trae Young is a secondary player on a *good* NBA team. He's the guy on mediocre-to-bad teams.

The problem is he's never signaled that he'll accept a secondary role.

It's why it's always felt like he's been destined to be a stat-filler on bad teams.

It's also true that both sides need a clean break.

Trae needs to go somewhere where he can be the focal point and get as many shots as he wants.

The Hawks need a fresh start and new face.

06.01.2026 01:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I've argued for a few years that the Hawks should've been looking to move on from Trae Young, but I also acknowledge that I don't think the FO could pull it off, politically.

Now, with a new FO, they're signaling that they don't think they can win with him. That + looming player option explains it.
