Leftists are not all Leninist/Marxist. Leftist politics and the way the USSR was run in practice are not the same. And there were reasons the USSR became a fascist dictatorship that don’t have anything to do with leftism.

Something everyone invested in the #NJGOV election should read, especially if they are part of a marginalized community. How can immigrant families or queer/trans folks believe what Sherrill says when she doesn’t even make the barest minimum of signals that she is good on her word?

I maintain that the events surrounding NET last year look especially damning against the backdrop of our current political climate. Some people at NET are trying to make the event safer for marginalized folks, but if change from the inside had been enough, this wouldn’t have happened.
