Actually, reading your reply reminded me of something I’d forgotten: college age, w/my on-off BF & our group of stoner, (mostly)☮️-loving friends, gathered together, drove down to D.C. for the No Nukes Rally/Concert. Joni Mitchell played…that’s all I remember-tho IK we felt strongly about the cause.🥺

With the sculptural effect of the dried grasses/wood in the foreground, a plain of snow beyond that, then floating floes of ice in the distant water, leading to a slate blue clouded horizon…this looks like a painting. Extraordinary & beautiful. This is #art 👏

Not long ago, this front garden patch was nearly barren, apart from a few planted Pansies & Violas. There are still purple splotches of them growing here, but the ground is almost carpeted in fresh green plants & foliage, from wild Strawberries to the first tender leaves of various wildflowers. Many bulbs have sprouted their tall leaves - portents of Daffodils, Tulips & Hyacinths to come. In the front of this patch, the abundance of long, slender leaves spilling over are actually harbingers of tiny Grape Hyacinths. Elsewhere, bits of pink are Hellebores, still blossoming, whatever the weather. The stick-like, woody stems to the left of centre in this picture are actually our Queen of Sweden Rose bush, which has been trimmed so that its eventual flowers will rise above everything, like a long-stemmed bouquet. It’s so wonderful to see that - despite weeks of rain & bitter weather, with more yet to come - the ground is bursting with a somewhat chaotic, yet beautiful display of new green Life & the Promise of Spring…We did say it was coming…Hold On to Hope. 🙏~💞 Photo by tam’s partner.

They are-I asked amb to get that closeup detail, as it’s otherwise easily missed when looking at the whole piece. There was another sculpture w/a tiny detail in the Louvre: one of a woman sitting, holding her ankle in pain. She’d been bitten by a🦂😳…but it was hidden at the back. IT we got it📸too…

Yes, these are the same lovely pale pink and cream white Tulips I photographed (twice) & posted in the main post, w/Mischa’s haiku. But THIS was the photo I had meant to put up. Ever so slightly different…but these delicate flowers are so pretty, I hope you won’t mind me posting the photo I took which -I thought- was a bit better. Who knows? We have posted these before, but wished to complete the circle we started on Feb. 1st with a closeup of Antonio Canova’s beautiful depiction of Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss. Here, Chaudet has a younger Cupid kneeling down to present the gift of a rose to a Butterfly, which is often meant to represent young Psyche. This beautiful sculpture was situated in an open area of The Louvre when we visited decades ago. Sunlight pouring in from above illuminates the delicacy of Cupid’s wings, so finely carved of white marble that they almost appear transparent. He is kneeling on a pedestal, two fingers of his right hand ever so gently holding the butterfly’s wings, as he gives her a rose with his left hand, laying it down before her. It is symbolic of their timeless Love story from Greek mythology: the subject of many beautiful works of art. Photograph by tam’s partner. ~💞

Here is a closeup of that special moment in this beautiful sculpture: It shows Cupid’s hands, two fingers of his right hand are very gently holding the wings of the Butterfly Psyche, as he presents her with a rose. The flower, like the Butterfly, is sculpted with exquisite detail. The sides if the pedestal on which this meeting is shown is carved in bas-relief decoration, with images of Cupid’s “story,” as it were. For instance, on the side visible in our photo there’s an image of Cupid holding his bow, about to let loose one of his arrows of Love. This is among our favourite sculptures. We know we were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to see this, as well as Canova’s…& countless great works of art-so many sculptures & beautiful paintings-when we visited Paris back in 2005. But one needn’t go so far to see wonderful works of art & sculpture. Around the world, so many cities & towns have galleries and museums that hold treasures. It’s worth looking into, wherever you live. You never know what surprising and extraordinary works you might have on your own “doorstep,” so to speak. So we encourage you to please support your local art galleries & museums…You might just be amazed at what you find. A wander through a gallery or museum can be so restorative…both a respite from life’s daily grind…and a few hours of peace, spent in beauty. With weather (and time of year) still prohibitive of finding such peace outdoors, your own hometown’s gallery or museum may just surprise you…& nourish your spirit ~💞

Sun-drenched closeup of one of the earliest Queen of Sweden roses to bloom last year, in May 2025. It is a round cup full of many beautiful pink petals, so dense that-unfortunately- bees cannot reach any nectar the flower may hold. We didn’t know that it was not bee-friendly when we first bought this rose bush many years ago, in an end-of-season sale, one last flower still on it. But it has brought us so many years of beautiful flowers in our small front garden patch. And we have planted many bee friendly shrubs & plants to compensate, as we try to Garden For Wildlife. We wish you could catch a whiff of this rose’s scent, for it’s simply exquisite. The rose bush has been carefully pruned & cared for year after year, so every year we’re blessed. Last year did prove hard for many plants - with harsh heatwaves & droughts. Still, the roses kept coming…in fact, they were still budding into November, when we brought in the roses in the next 3 photos. This photograph - and the next two of November roses in bud -were taken by tam’s partner. ~💞

November surprised us with fresh buds on the Queen of Sweden bush. But as we knew the weather was on the turn, these were cut and brought indoors, where, in time, they would open in full, glorious bloom. The rose closest to camera in the previous photo is now gradually opening (the 2nd one behind it stayed mostly in bud…But this flower was so sweet and beautiful, set in a small vase…they were a lovely surprise so late in the year. Again, this photo was taken by tam’s partner.~💞

Here, that same rose has opened fully, its gorgeous array of petals forming a circle of delicate, scalloped layers of pink upon pink, again with a dense centre. It’s deep green, glossy leaves splay out from both sides. This photo - an overhead view as the rose in vase was placed upon tam’s lap-tray - was taken by tam💞 It proved to be the last and loveliest rose of the year before Winter set in…its scent as fresh and beautiful as the first roses back in May. How amazing Nature can be… If we could place these roses - as fresh as they were the days these photos were taken - into your hands right now, we would. This is as close as we can get to doing that. Into Forever… a very long #poem ~Mischa💞

Free image: two Swans in the midst of a courtship dance, their long necks side by side, faces turned together (almost cheek to cheek, one might say). There are many varieties of Swans, most are white in colour, but there are vast differences between the white varieties. We won’t pretend to know which types any of these are…and, honestly, it doesn’t matter here. For all we wished to show - in this series of Free Images -are Swans in various stages of courtship before “Swanning off into the Sunset…” ~💞

In this Free Image - Not Our Photo- A pair of Swans are shown in a courtship dance, heads turned together to the left, their back feathers all fluffed up beautifully. Tbh, we’ve seen male swans fluff their feathers up in a confrontational, territorial way; or to warn off other birds & protect their nests. But this pair, on rippling blue waters, seem more in tune with each other…so it seems yet another stage of their pairing-for-Life “dance.” Beautiful, their feathers reflected in the ripples of the lake they’re swimming together…~💞

This 3rd Free Image - not our photo - shows a pair of swans so bonded in courtship, they’ve formed almost a Heart shape, head to head, face to face, their long necks like the curving sides of the Heart that’s completed in their slightly raised bodies. It’s so extraordinary a sight, this courtship and bonding. Decades ago, on a regular trip I used to take to a frequent event away from home, I used to see a pair of Swans on a pond. Every year they would be there, together. Then one year, I saw only one Swan…and it seemed so sad…Eventually that Swan was gone, too. We cannot know if its mate never made it back to the pond…or what might have happened to either. So many swans fly long, arduous journeys to return to where they are used to meeting up with their partner and nesting each year. They face such tremendous obstacles in severe weather, storms, changes caused by Global Warming which throw many birds off course completely. And, sadly, even where they live year round, they also face the danger that heartless humans present: fishing lines that catch their necks-strangling, fishing lures that get lodged in their throats - horrific and often fatal injuries result, just from those carelessly discarded objects & rubbish people leave. There are ppl who shoot swans for “sport” - illegal here in the UK, as all swans are considered to be the property of The Crown…but it should be a crime Everywhere anyway. How anyone could harm these extraordinary, beautiful and, yes, caring, loving birds…is beyond all understanding. To our minds, there’s no punishment great enough for such heartless, thoughtless “humans.” …But here, we see a pair mated for Life, forming what humans would see as a Heart… Love is not something only humans feel… Indeed, as we’ve tried to show this month, feelings cross so many boundaries of Living creatures, all of whom deserve our Love, care & respect. “What the World needs now: Love, sweet Love…” as the song goes…truer now than ever. ~tamisar💞

This last Free Image - not our photo - shows the silhouette of a pair of Swans, swimming off across calm waters as the Sun has set. The golden glow of Sunset fills the sky above the dark outline of low mountains on the horizon and that glow is reflected in the water…What a beautiful conclusion, as they, quite literally 😉 “Swan off into the Sunset.” Happy Valentine’s Day to EveryOne: whether you’re with a partner, a spouse, your best friend…or especially if you’re on your own, for whatever reason. Maybe today just makes you feel that much more sad and alone. Not everyone finds “true love” and many have suffered in the search for it. So it has been for centuries, that seemingly unattainable & unrealistic goal of finding the “Perfect Love”…Sometimes they turn out to be the exact opposite.💔😢 Some of us may Never meet “The One.” Or maybe the right person for us - if there is one - could be the one you least expected, someone you’ve known for years - who truly knows the Real You & accepts & loves you Just As You Are, who’s been with you thru thick and thin for many years. That’s something I can testify to personally💕. We also know some may choose to be solitary, for whatever reason. In truth, no relationship, no Love can be Perfect, for none of us are…And so many people may be feeling low or broken hearted, today. But Love isn’t only for Couples…there’s the Love of a Parent for their child; the Love of family - though some of us may never even have known either of those, We know that, too. There’s Love in Friendship. There’s the beautiful Love we’re given by pets, which they themselves deserve so much in return… You see: This Day - like Love - isn’t only for “Happy Couples or Families.” So We’re sending out our best wishes for personal happiness to Every One reading this, especially if you’re on your own. May you find Love & true strength within yourself…in helping others…& maybe one day, right beside you all along.💝 With Lots of Love, from~tamisar💞🙏 💖

A bouquet of 9 beautiful, dusky pink Roses, given free to tam’s partner by the lady at the checkout in the grocery store. The bunch was looking a bit worn, they were past their “Date,” unloved or appreciated by anyone before that day…and destined to be thrown away. How sad that would have been, for as we said & as it appears in this photo, given tender care, water & belief, they bloomed fully and beautifully, lasting well into this second week, still. Petals curled, looking somewhat faded at the edges, they still have so much to give. There is a parable of sorts here…but We don’t need to tell you what that is… We’ll just post this vignetted photo of them, taken from overhead by tam’s partner…and hope you get the message… Love ~tamisar💞
