The defeat of S. 323 is worth celebrating. But no victory is permanent. When the full legislature returns in January, we'll be ready to show up, speak out, and fight back as lawmakers continue launching new attacks on our bodily autonomy, privacy, and free speech. Stay with us.

The total abortion ban bill is dead. The struggle for our reproductive freedom continues.
Senate Bill 323, which equated abortion with homicide, was rejected by a Senate subcommittee on Nov. 18 after thousands of South Carolinians spoke out against its dangerous and unconstitutional provisions.

News clipping. A REUTERS SPECIAL REPORT. The Charlie Kirk purge: How 600 Americans were punished in a pro-Trump crackdown
Two months after Charlie Kirkβs assassination, a government-backed campaign has led to firings, suspensions, investigations and other action against more than 600 people.
Chaney, who serves as legal director of the South Carolina chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, said the threats to defund Clemson and others crossed a constitutional line. βThe government canβt police speech by pressuring third parties,β he said. Last year, the Supreme Court unanimously held that government officials cannot use their authority to βattempt to coerceβ private parties into punishing or suppressing speech they dislike.
From the White House to the State House, politicians have tried to fire, suspend, and intimidate people for expressing opinions about Charlie Kirk. We're proud to represent a climate scientist fighting to protect his free speech rights and resume his work at Clemson.

Stop the Heinous Ban
South Carolina lawmakers are pushing S.323 β a total abortion ban that would equate abortion with homicide and carry up to 30 years in prison. It does not allow for exceptions such as rape or incest. ...
S. 323 is unconstitutional and deadly. This bill would make it illegal to possess abortion medications. It would even criminalize providing information about abortion. We have a chance to stop it before it becomes law.

Know your protest rights: 1. You don't need a permit to protest in response to breaking news or to march on sidewalks or streets as long as traffic and building access are not obstructed. 2: You have the right to photograph anything in plain view while lawfully in public, including federal buildings and police. 3: If your rights are violated, document everything by writing details, collecting witness contact information, and taking photos of injuries. 4: If stopped by police, ask if you are free to go. If yes, calmly walk away. 5: If arrested, invoke your right to remain silent and request a lawyer. Do not sign, speak, or agree to anything without legal representation. 6: If stopped by military or law enforcement at a protest, you have the right to remain silent and only answer questions in the presence of an attorney, regardless of immigration or citizenship status.
If you choose to attend or organize a protest, know your rights before you go. The First Amendment protects your right to assemble and express your views through protest. Learn more here: www.aclu.org/know-your-ri...
