Today is World Against the Death Penalty Day and public support for the death penalty is falling and the current trend, of a 40 year low in new death sentences, is continuing as fewer juries are handing down death sentences and fewer prosecutors are seeking death.

In 2019, New Hampshire outlawed the death penalty because it was cruel, ineffective, and unpopular among Granite Staters.

So then why are NH lawmakers now trying to revive proposed death penalty bills for the 2026 legislative session?

Our legal team, alongside our many partners and allies, refuse to back down as we continue fighting this egregious attack on our constitutional rights in court.

We also filed a class action lawsuit in June, again to defend birthright citizenship. The federal government has already appealed to the Supreme Court, which will soon decide whether or not to take on the case.
