I don't think for a moment that she's innocent at all. The way she speaks, the way she's presented in it, very much gives me the impression of a woman who has gotten away with it, and has zero regrets.

HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS NOTIFICATION?! I am so sorry to leave you hanging! I just watched the doc again last week too, with an aunt who hadn't seen it. Indrani Mukerjea makes me uneasy and puts me on edge, she's such a terrifying woman, especially how she presents herself in that doc.

@cozyjamble.bsky.social for the last couple of years has written the best Mary Marvel we've had for ages. But not only that. Her work on Amazons Attack - the sixth and final issue is out today - has been beyond stellar. I'm sad it's ending, but I'm excited to see what she does on Shazam!

Had an absolutely ridiculous character idea pop into my head today and...you know, I don't know if there's a story there, but she's fun to think about.

Every once in a while, the world (Spotify) reminds me that Kylie Minogue, my absolute favourite non-Indian singer, once delved into my absolute favourite musical genre, Bollywood, to terrible results, in a song that just didn't live up to her standard. I got chiggy-wiggy'd again today, friends. πŸ™‰πŸ˜

Because these were not just plain old bustles, no. These were fashionable trunks that we attached to ourselves to store things in, and they were completely customizable. Mine, for instance, had a specifically refrigerated section that held half a dozen Diet Coke cans, so I was never without one.

I blame my dream last night on the fact that I've been watching The Gilded Age right before I go to sleep, because it was a bonkers one. The fashion industry had taken the idea of the fanny pack to its illogical extreme and brought bustles back into fashion, for women AND men! But that's not all.

Started season two of The Gilded Age and MY GOD, I freaking LOVE Bertha Russell!

Finished season one of The Gilded Age last night, and I don’t believe I’ve ever rooted as hard for anyone as I did for Bertha Russell, and her finally getting what she wanted was just so very deeply satisfying. What a fantastic character, and again, Carrie Coon is beyond mesmerizing in the role!

I...it really does feel like it was specifically made to delight moi! Christine Baranski's "Heads have rolled for less" keeps on echoing in my mind.

....my only thought is "yikes" and that's mostly because I find myself incapable of forming any other coherent, intelligible thoughts after reading THAT. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

BUT. The biggest revelation to me has been Carrie Coon, who is giving an INCREDIBLE performance as Bertha Russell, a new money woman who is determined to break into New York society. It is such a beautiful, layered performance - strong and determined, very steely. You can't help but root for her.

I was obviously attracted to the show in the first place because it features the indomitable Christine Baranski, who can do NO WRONG, and also Cynthia Nixon. But there have been delightful surprises along the way, including Audra McDonald, Nathan Lane, and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

So, I always knew that The Gilded Age was going to be a show that I would love, but time has been spare the last couple of years and so I've been behind on a LOT of my television watching. I *finally* started The Gilded Age this weekend, and friends, LET ME TELL YOU. This show? DELIGHTFUL.

Blue Beetle #7 was just such a beautiful love letter to Keith Giffen's legacy, and Birds of Prey had some great moments, both funny and also tender. Scooby-Doo Mysteries is consistently the most fun book that DC's been putting out and Shazam had the Creeper and it was just...perfect.

Between Blue Beetle, Birds of Prey, Shazam, and the Batman Scooby-Doo Mysteries, it's been a REALLY good comic book day, I have to say.

Mon-Fri, I mainly tend to cook Indian food, because it's easier to pull together, especially for the whole family, but on the weekends, especially evenings like last night when the rest of the family was out and I was home alone, I like to indulge myself in foods that not everyone else would like.

I ended up with one slice left over for lunch, which I just had along with a very simple arugula salad - just arugula, toasted pine nuts, shaved parmesan, in a bright and zesty lemon juice and olive oil dressing. Some mint iced tea.

Made a French bread pizza for dinner last night. Nothing fancy - a demi baguette sliced in half, toasted, and then topped with my homemade spicy arrabbiata sauce, sautΓ©ed mushrooms, roasted red peppers, artichokes, prosciutto, banana peppers, olives, mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano. SO GOOD!

For the first time in months, I was actually able to get words down. 1126 words. It's a decent amount, considering I've been in what's felt like a drought for a couple of months now. Feels...good? Let's hope it continues, though. 🀞

Not helping matters is the fact that doing Mataji ni aarti for Navratri hit me hard this morning as well. Our temple set-up is on this very low Indian-style chair, and in years past Niko would settle under the chair, his snout sticking out, while we did the aarti and...he's also no longer with us.

I'm a mix and mess of emotions today. It's the first day of Navratri, which is my favourite holiday, but this year it falls on the anniversary of my father's death, and this year the dates are laid out on the same days they were the year he passed away. So it's weirdly bittersweet.

It’s a Chinese soup, sometimes also called egg drop soup! At its most basic, it’s warm, seasoned broth (traditionally chicken but until now I’ve always used veggie broth) that’s got little ribbons of beaten egg in it. It’s kind of like the Italian Stracciatella.

Didn’t much feel like cooking, and I remembered I had some leftover corn stock in the freezer from this summer. Used that as a base for honestly the best egg flower soup I have EVER made. Mildly sweet and silky, with corn and scallions, and finished with a little drizzle of chili crisp. SO GOOD!
