I once saw Joe Kubert at a con and didn't say anything. He died six months later.

I crossed paths with Stan at LEAST twice, and never mustered the courage to say something.

It really bums me out that I'm old enough to have been alive the same time as some of comics' greatest pioneers, but young enough that I wasn't able to meet them before they passed away.

This has been my prevailing thought process for Batman and Superman for probably two decades now. It's not a binary but a ternary. The true personality is neither the public facing nor the superhero, but who they are among those they're closest to. Ma and Pa. Alfred. Etc.

I just saw a fan-edit post type thing suggesting that Batman discovers that The Message actually WAS tampered with by an AI the likes of which he's never seen, and that it calls itself Brainiac, and like...yeah, that would've been a good way to handle that whole situation.
